Rewind, Go back and face the
war
Steps cannot be retracedI thought If I stepped
Into her shoes
The one who was real
Before him
Before she
fell
Before he pushed her
The one who had a reflection
A smile, once
From her eyes and stop them
See the scar
Before it ran down her soul
And heal it
Before he pushed her
The one who had a reflection
A smile, once
I thought I could go
back
See the
tears before they
fell From her eyes and stop them
See the scar
Before it ran down her soul
And heal it
Steps cannot
be retraced
Valerie Masters
To me, this is an outstanding poem illuminating a hideous situation, both internally and externally. It's every bit as haunting as it should be. Very strong message.
