Downpour

Did she ever ask you
To pick her up and carry her
Past the thorns that tore at her bare feet
Did she sigh when she carried you
Past yours
Did she ever ask you to cover her
Against the beating rain
While busy covering you from
Heartless hailstones
Did you ever think the day would
Come when you could no longer
Reach her

Did you ever stop to see her falling tears
